It's been ages since I updated my blog. Sorry :( I've been really busy with Creative Crafting Magazine, getting the site ready, re-launching Creative Connections who we are now proudly sponsored by WowThankYou.

Creative Crafting Online Magazine is now on its 6th Issue, the Summer Edition! You can read it below. Click the magazine to view in full screen.

We have now brought the magazine and the network together. So Creative Crafting and Creative Connections are now one, although on two sites! On Creative Crafting you can view all the magazines projects, interviews, recipes from back issues, and on Creative Connections, network with fellow crafter's, upload your recent projects, host chat events, more!

On the Sprinkles Sparkles side of business, we have recently had an order from a company for lots and lots of mobile phone charms! I won't mention who as it might spoil the surprise for some of you at Christmas. But I'm really chuffed to been asked to do the order.

I've also just today had a commission to re-string some gorgeous freshwater pearls. I'm just waiting for the pearls to be dropped off here, so I can start work on them.

I decided to take two days off, well, Saturday and Sunday, so yesterday I just chilled out, and today I started on Sprinkles Sparkles 'Zip Zip' range. This is a new venture for Sprinkles Sparkles. It's not jewellery, but lovely homeware gifts.

Here is what I made today (sorry about the picture. I took it with my mobile phone to show you all)

Hanging Tags!

My gridwall arrived the other week, ready to display all Sprinkles Beads stock. Only problem was that they had sent me the wrong legs! Well, after numerous emails, and phone calls, I still haven't received the correct legs. but we will get there!

So today, I finished off making my handmade hanging tags, so I could hang all the stock up!

1. Cutting up lots of strips of white card.

2. Then cut each strip into 10 pieces.

3. Each little strip was then cut out with a snowflake

cutter.

4. And left hundreds of little snowflakes!

5. The little strips were then stapled onto the backs

of all the bags!

6. Finished result!

Knit, Stitch & Creative Craft Show

Yesterday we nipped off down to Shepton Mallet to the Knit, Stitch & Creative Craft Show. We got there just before 10am when it opened, and joined the queue.

First stop was the cafe for a cup of coffee and cake!

Then we started to have a look around. I did start to get slightly annoyed with some people that had forgotten to bring their manners with them. Pushing and shoving to pick up something that there are hundreds off. There is no need!

I picked up some pink beads and findings for a necklace, bracelet and earring set I am making myself for a wedding on Saturday. Bought from The Southampton Bead Shop and With Love Crafts

Then it was time for dinner. We had brought along our own picnic, and sat outside on the grass.

We went back in and carried looking around. I picked up some gorgeous fat quarters from a lovely lady from Phase Patch Craft in Chippenham, and some quarters from Sunflower Corner Quilting.

The button, two cotton reel and pink swirly leaf quarters are from Phase Patch Craft and the Royal Dolton black, pink and purple flower, and two purple flower quarters are from Sunflower Corner Quilting.

It's all about the Sparkle!

Another glorious day!

I was planning on having the morning off to start a new cross stitch, but that didn't happen. Instead we ended up emptying the summer house, hoovering, dusting and cleaning the windows and putting everything back in again!

By then it was dinner time... so i made us a lovely cheesy omelette! Mmmm....

Then checked the post! Hurray, finally my crystals arrived that I have been waiting for since Easter. So I made myself a bracelet for the summer.

Then onto making some summery, window charms! I had so much fun making them.

I made them in 3 different colours, with 3 different glass drops.

Emerald crystal with 63mm AB crystal glass drop, Crystal with 38x14mm AB crystal glass drop, and Purple Velvet crystal with 63mm AB crystal glass drop.

I have listed the Emerald window charm on Misi. The other two will be listed in the next few days.

It's 100!

It's my 100th post!

What have I been blogging about to make 100! Only seems like 5 minutes ago I was excited about getting my blog back, after it had been hijacked. That was back in February 2009!

How glorious was today? Sun was out, and it wasn't too hot. I'm not a sun worshiper in any shape or form. I do really prefer the winter months, mainly as it doesn't effect my eczema as much as the heat does. It has already starting flaring up. Backs of knees, stomach, hips, and groin area, but I wasn't going to let today pass without making some summery jewellery and accessories.

This evening I opened a new account, and started listing 5 new supplies to the shop. So far we have

All postage is £1.00 per order, with 20p for each additional item. So it might be best to stock up while you can, all in one go!

Some items that I will be listing are not small, for example bead boards and beading mats. These will have different postage & packaging prices, due to their size.

First listing of the week

This evening I was feeling a bit crafty, and came up with these!

They are made from piller box red, and burgundy glass pearls, with black lucite petals. They hang to 1 inch, and have silver plated earwires.

What! Where?

Since my last post, this week has been all over the place! I feel I have not got anything done, but looking back over it, each day was very busy with something or another.

My sewing machine arrived on Tuesday...

along with lots of free goodies! (see 2 middle images).

On Wednesday I had a play about with my machine, and concentrated on the Creative Crafting Magazine.

On Thursday I went down to see The Crystal Lady, and we had a fabulous time out shopping, eating, giggling about the lift in 'The Range', and going to the best charity shop ever!

On Friday, finishing off some more articles for the magazine.

And Saturday and Sunday, I tried my best to have these free and restful, but ended up sorting out some of my website and also added some new items, like BUTTONS to my Misi store!

And now we are back to Tuesday! A week gone... just like that!

Just a reminder that the Easter edition of Creative Crafting Magazine is out THIS Thursday, 1st April (no joke!)

My new toy!

Here is my new toy!
Although I don't have it just yet, it will be arriving sometime during the week. I had some birthday money, and I didn't want to go spending it on the usual clothes, underwear, the usual things, so I decided on a sewing machine!
It's an investment right?!

I've only ever used a sewing machine once before, and that was about 2 weeks ago. I had completed a cross stitch, and decided it would make a fantastic pin cushion. So, I borrowed my mums sewing machine, set it up very successfully, and gave it a shot!

It was slightly scary at first. I pressed the foot too hard and the needle on the machine went so fast, I could have lost a finger! But after a little trial and error I got the hang of it, and surprised myself! I really enjoyed it.

The stitches were a little wibbly wobbly, but I just need more practice.

Yesterday, while in Reading's Train Station I bought Sew Hip magazine. The bag pattern featured looked like it was made for me, so I bought it. And so, today, I got some old material, (my mums old curtains) and started cutting it up!

Now, here is what I achieved today, in between dinner and tea.

It's not perfect.

My cutting out skills are something not to be desired!

The numbered pictures are as follows:
1) Pattern design on the material
2) The two curtain panels
3) The body of the bag cut up
4) All the pieces of the bag cut up
5) All the pieces of the bag, pinned and ready to be sewn up.

That is as far as I got today- I'm going to leave it there until my new toy arrives!

There maybe a domestic goddess in me somewhere yet!

It was my birthday!

It was my birthday on Monday, and I turned the grand old age of er.... 26! I had a lovely day, spending the morning in Matalan, TX Maxx, and Pound Stretcher, then in the afternoon I made a mobile phone charm, for myself, while having numerous amounts of cups of tea as people dropped in with their gifts!

So, what did I get?
1. Pink TV! It's actually nicer than it sounds!

5. Choccies!
6. New jewellery pliers
7. Compartment box
8. Gorgeous embroidery skeins - from Anna, The Crystal Lady

On Tuesday all these buttons arrived!

And got sorted out into their colours

They are all bagged up into 25g mixes, and will soon be available on Sprinkles Beads. I will let you know when!

It was like loosing my Teddy Bear!

You know that horrible, sickening feeling you get in your stomach when you loose something? That's how I felt today.

We woke up to no Internet!

I was intending to spend the day researching into finding more craft fairs, and updating my site, but noooo. It was 5pm by the time it came back on. So according to the last Twitter feed post that was 2:58am, that's 14 hours downtime! No emails, no chatting, no 'work'! It was like loosing my Teddy Bear!

I cannot believe how much I rely on the internet, just for basic chores, like checking my bank balance, looking at Radio Times site for program times, ordering food from Tescos.

Instead I spent the day doing an entire cross stitch for my mum to give to her on Mother's Day, finally watching Marley & Me (it was hard holding back those tears!), washing up, watching the Big Bang Theory, and more Bones, playing on the Wii, and generally having fun! I've certainly become one of many casualties to spending too much time on-line, and that needs to change! One thing that won't change, mind you, is my morning MSN chats to Anna - The Crystal Lady!

Creative Connections has a new face!

On Sunday, myself and Anna decided on a face lift for Creative Connections Network. We set to work yesterday, (Monday), and now can reveal the new look!

Anna, The Crystal Lady, has made the new CC banner! How fabulous is it! (see top of page), and I got to work on fiddling with the CSS code.

There are some new features that have been added:

You can now upload your own videos
New photo slide-show on main page to 'show off' everyone's creations.
Congratulate your fellow crafters on their birthday with the new Birthdays section
View up and coming events- and add to them too!
Attend 'chat' events. I am hosting the first one in the beginning of April, though no confirmed date or time yet.

These gorgeous roses arrived in the post yesterday

and today two of them got turned into these gorgeous bookmarks!

The roses are made from polymer clay, and are absoulty stunning!

The bookmark on the left is the Forest Rose Bookmarks, made from green, black, red and brown glass pearls, and the bookmark on the right is the Love Rose Bookmark, and is made from red and black glass pearls. Both are hung on silver plate squiggle bookmarks measuring 3.5 inches.

Exhausted!

What a week!
This week has been the busiest ever for Sprinkles Sparkles Online! I have had sales on MISI and Sprinkles Sparkles Online, and I also launched Sprinkles Beads!

After launching Sprinkles Beads late Thursday evening, I had woken up to a sale Friday morning! Woohoo!
Stock on the site is very limited at the moment. I am waiting on new beads and findings to arrive, photograph it all, then add it to the site. Hopefully it will all be added by March!

Today we went to the Apple store in London's Regent Street.

We had booked an appointment to get Twisty's iPhone looked at, my iPod touch and mac fixed.
All a total waste of time.

The iPhone was out of warrenty to be replaced
'apparently' there is nothing wrong with my iPod touch - sods law it blimmen worked while I was there, and
there is a 5 - 6 week wait on mac repairs... I wasn't even going to consider leaving my computer with them for that amount of time! Thankfully, my mac isn't ill, its just a cosmetic issue. The case has split all over, and I would like it replaced.

Oh well, it was a day out, although absolutely exhausting!

Finally finished!

I have finally finished the first of three flower petal watches. This watch has taken me a few days to complete as both of my thumbs have been playing up, and it was too painful to carry on and complete on Monday. But today I finished it!

It is part of 'The Petal Collection' and is made from green and brown glass pearls, green and clear lucite petals and leaves, with boheimun green and crystal bicones. The watch face is green, and fully working!

It matches the green and brown flower petal bracelet, earrings, and bookmark, that are all available on Sprinkles Sparkles Online, MISI, Folksy, Etsy and Groovycart!

Forever...

Over the weekend I fancied making some bookmarks. I made 4 different ones. Blue zircon, light siam, fuchsia and peridot.
They are swarovski crystal hearts, with matching glass pearls. They are attached to a silver plated squiggle bookmark, and are 3.5 inches long.

It really does look better in the flesh. And I really think I need to try and take a better picture of it, but this is it.

While I was watching 'Pop Star to Opera Star' this evening, I felt in an inspirational mood, so I went on over to the Etsy treasuries to have a look at some collections.

I was chatting away to Anna (The Crystal Lady) on MSN today, and we got talking about the colour amber!

Anna is feeling very attracted to the colour at the moment even though never being particularly attached to it, but I have never been attracted to the yellows, topaz's and citrines.

At the time, I was getting my odd beads and my pendants out that I have left. I was putting them on my bead board, and look what happened!

Has it been a week?!

Not a lot to report on this week! I have been very busy editing the Creative Crafting magazine, with the lovely Anna - The Crystal Lady, and re-doing my website, yet again, so I have been more or less hibernating!

The magazine is coming along very nicely, this month. Not too stressful, articles that are coming in are fabulous, but it's a quite worrying that we are already looking at Valentines Day, and Mothers Day!

Cropping, Bones and Listings

Today I have spent the day, cropping and re-naming all my bracelet images ready put up on to my website.

It's taken practically all day, and I'm pooped!
Just glad that I had a season of Bones to watch to get me through it!

Hamish!

After last weeks disappointment of not being able to go and get my new hamster, as it was very snowy, today was written in the diary as the new 'pick up' day!
This morning, waking up, opening the curtains and seeing yet another blanket of snow, it was hit or miss whether we were going to be able to get the car out of our road and get along to the garden center.
We left at 11am, and the roads seemed pretty clear and gritted well, and we made it!

So now I can very excitedly introduce you all to Hamish! He is a male, Syrian hamster.

Sorry about the dark picture! I didn't want to frighten him with the flash from my camera. He is only about 6½ weeks old, but I think he is younger than that, as he is very tiny.

Wise move? I'm not sure.

We didn't make it to the garden centre today. I woke up to snow, along with everyone else in the UK! So instead we cleared up the floor from pine needles and tinsel, and started putting all the Christmas decorations back into the loft.

Maybe tomorrow we may go to buy a new hamster, depending on the county roads.

January blues!?

I don't know about you, but I"m loving this weather! It's cold... ok, freeeeeezing but I get to pile on jumpers and fluffy boots! I just love it, love it, LOVE IT!

As of yet, there is no heavy downfall of snow here. We had a little flurry between 12 - 3, but it didn't come to much. The forecast shows we should have some from midnight, but I'm hoping we don't have too much as I would like to go to the garden center in the morning, to have a nosey at Hamsters.

Poor Buttons died on the 31st December 2009, we reckon he was about 2½, but i miss him dearly. He had a wonderful character, and loved chocolate buttons (hence the name!)
Here he is sitting on his merry wheel last September.

Last few days I have started to list a couple of my new items onto MISI. I have added the Pink and Purple Petal Flower Bracelet, and their matching Pink and Purple Leaf Earrings. Both are listed separately.

Today, I made some new hair pins.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a lovely new year celebration. whether they stayed at home, went to friends, or went out partying!

I went out, into Reading, for my new year celebration, only to come back at 10:30pm armed with burger and chips, as the whole 'being out' surrounded by lots of people, was starting to bring on an anxiety attack. But, to be honest, I had the best time just slouched in front of the TV, watching Russel Howard on BBC3, then switching over to ITV to watch Big Ben strike 12.

During December, Sprinkles Sparkles Online got hacked into! I lost everything on the database, and had to start again. So during the Christmas holidays, I started making a new website. It's up and running - Sprinkles Sparkles Online! - but there are still a couple of teething issues with it, and as January progresses, more stock will be added!

We are also making a start on the February/March, Valentine & Mothers Day, Creative Crafting Magazine. This will be available to read from the 1st of February.

Like with everything and anything, we have had fantastic feedback, and also criticisms. If you have any feedback for the team, good or bad, please email us!
We are finding it very difficult to trawl though lots of forums to find out about your impressions of the magazine! :) Although, Man of the Month, seems to have created great feedback!

We will start to expand on many more crafts over the next coming issues to make sure everyone's craft doesn't feel left out!
We started off with a small team of jewellers, knitters, and crocheters, so the features and articles were based around those crafts. In the coming issue we will have a card maker, so you will be able to learn how to make a Valentines card for your loved ones.

Whoops! I have been extremely busy..promise!

At the beginning of the month, I attended the MISI Makers event. I haven't blogged about it, as I have written an article for the Creative Crafting Magazine Christmas Issue 2, that comes out on Tuesday 1st December.

From there I have attended a couple more craft fairs. It's a few more pennies in the pot, and I was lucky enough to sell some older stock, to make room for my new 2010 range.

And the rest of this month?
Myself and Anna, The Crystal Lady, have been busy putting the rest of the magazine together, and receiving wonderful interviews and articles from many crafters.

I always seem to be attracted to the same colours all the time, bright pinks! So this time I thought I would be a little different and choose some colours that I haven't really used for earrings before!

Sprinks' Day Out!

Okay, maybe not a blog post about my new makes, but a post about Sprinks Day Out!
On Tuesday we went to see GREEN DAY in concert at the LG Arena in Birmingham! I had been looking forward to it for months and months.

We traveled up from Reading at 3:30pm, stopping off at a service station on the way.
After getting a little lost we finally arrived at the LG Arena car park just after 6pm. We paid for the car park (which was £8! They certainly know how to charge!), we waited in line for the bus that took us along the road to the main arena.

The queue getting in wasn't too bad. The man searched my bag, I say searched... it was more like a little peep!
We headed into the lobby and scanned the area. I found the merchandise section and stood looking at the mass crowd of people.
Sometimes it's great being small! I was able to wiggle my way to the front (very naughty I know!) in a matter of seconds, and we bought our souvenir t-shirts to wear in the arena.

We grabbed a panini and headed to into the arena to find our seats. It was pitch black, and we couldn't find our seats, let alone the row letter! The steward found our seats (i want to be a steward when i grow up, they get to stay in the arena the whole time, see the concert, and get paid for it!).

We say down, and I changed my black strappy top for the Green Day t-shirt!
Now, if you remember the girls changing rooms at school, we were all very good at the art of changing tops without having stripe! I'm glad to say I still have the knack!

Finally, Green Day came on stage. I had already sat through their supporting act of 'Prima Donna' which the crowd were not warming too.

Then the show began!

The show ended around 11ish, I think, and we headed on out. I was absolutely exhausted! We walked back to the car, as the bus queue was ginormous. We headed on back to down south to Reading, finally getting back around 3am. We decided not to stay over in the end.

So that was my day off!

And a damned good one at that!

And on the business side... I have sold some goodies this week, through my own website, Sprinkles Sparkles Online, and on my MISI store!

Star Struck!

On Saturday I went along to the Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair. I'm always after a bargain, so where else better to go, to rummage through old tins of other peoples junk!

We were wandering outside, when I spotted small crowd of people. Being nosy, I went over and had a look!
Only to spot Tim Wonnacott with the blue team being filmed for Bargain Hunt, along with the other antiques man (don't know his name)!

Although I never watch it, I was still star strucked! How stupid! Wasn't like Jude Law had just passed me was it!

I wasn't stalking Tim all day! I did manage to look around the 4 large sheds and all the outside stalls.

Here are my goodies.

I bought these 3 pieces of material by Mulberry for 10p each!

And this little mixture.

2 pairs of retro style earrings, that I will be making into hair pins. You may already recognise them. I bought the opposite sizes last time I went!
2 pairs of clip on antique flower earrings, that I will be also making into hair pins
A pair of tiny glasses! Couldn't resist!

And last, but not least a small swallow

There was also a stationary man there, so i bought some bags and some label tags from him, but I didn't think you would want a picture of that too!

So, not a bad day out. I spent £9.75, which is pretty good!

Very deflated!

On Saturday, I had my last outdoor fair of the year. I had been looking forward to this fair for months at the Frome Cheese & Agricultural Show!

After getting up at 4am, arriving at 6am, and setting up by 8:30am I was already shattered, but I was really looking forward to the hustle bustle of the day..... so I thought!

It was an absolutely terrible day! I don't know whether it was where my stall was positioned, or, by the time people had paid the £12.50 entrance fee, and fed themselves they were out of money!

But thank you to everyone that came to my stall, and left lovely comments about my work. They were very much appreciated!

So now that I still have most of my stock, I will be starting to list items on my MISI store! This will also showcase some of the items will be available at the MISI Event on the 7th November @ The Paintworks, Bristol.

Craft Fair Announcements!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I'm very happy, and excited to announce that I have been accepted to two wonderful craft events in the next few coming months.

In September I have been accepted into the Frome Cheese Show. This event is in its 132nd year! It's extremely well established and I just cannot wait :D

The show is on Saturday 12th September, and starts at 8:30am! There are many different attractions for the family, that include over 300 trade stands, animals, food halls, demonstrations, and a funfair!

Next is the MISI Makers Event, being held at The Paintworks, Bristol.

It's being held on Saturday 7th November, and will have around 30 stalls selling handmade crafts. No trade selling will be allowed, so you will be sure that your finds will be handmade from the seller!
The Misi event will have all makers who sell on MISI, so you might just recognise many names there!

As always when I am attending any outdoor event, or hall, there will be no credit/debit card facilities for Sprinkles Sparkles stall so remember to take plenty of cash with you!

Neon Disco Lights!

I was on the MISI forums the other day. Nothing unsual there! And Kelly from Kelso Kreations had asked for someone to make a custom bracelet for her sons girlfriend!

It's her 10th birthday on Friday and is having a neon disco party, so Kelly had asked for something bright, colourful and disco/neon related!

I jumped at the chance at making this, so PM'd Kelly straight away. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, so was keeping my fingers crossed that she would like me to make it for her.
I got a reply almost instantly, and Kelly said yes to me making the bracelet! yay!

Here's what I came up with! I love it! It's made from resin beads, suitable for a young girl, as I thought glass wouldn't be as suitable, and also too heavy on her wrist.

Kelly has received the bracelet, along with a gift box and card made by Hayley at Haybel19!

It all matches perfectly! And I hope the birthday girl enjoys her pressies!

So, the weekend came, and now has gone, so it must be time for another update! Well, it's more of a rant really!

Well, as you are all aware I had my first outdoor craft fair. I'm pretty used to doing craft fairs indoors now, so it wasn't too fazed at setting up outside....

it all went slightly 'whopsie'!

We arrived on Saturday morning at the event to set up, just before 8am. The man showed us where our allocated space was, by spraying the grass in yellow paint! We had a lovely deep area of 30ft, and 9 ft frontage.

We unloaded the car, and started constructing the gazebo. It all went quite smoothly considering we were in quite a rush. We had 1 hour to get it all set up for opening time at 9am.

Up went the gazebo, the tables, all the jewellery on one table, and accessories on the other.

Well, the morning went on, and I nipped to the loo.... I came back... and noticed one of my packets of cord fluttering along the grass.

I picked it up and carried on walking along the grass to my stall, only to see my Mum, Dad, and my dads friend picking up the entire of the accessories table contents off from the grass! (table on the right with the purple covering), along with the stand at the back, and all of its contents sprawled everywhere!!

The wind, which had started picking up, had caught the gazebo panels and hit it all on the floor. I was pretty upset, but carried on picking up everything.
We decided to move the table to the back of the tent, and move the stand in front of the jewellery stall.

The day went on, things were flying off the tables all day! By the end of the day I had given up and secretly didn't want to go back again on Sunday.

Apart from the Saturday wind, the day really was okay. Not as busy as hoped, but Saturdays are usually slow at Rallys.

Sunday arrived. I was very sceptical. It was pretty windy at 8am, but we got the gazebo up, again, the tables and all the jewellery.

We arranged the tent slightly differently, and secured it as much as we could we cable ties, and camping chairs pinned into the ground and tied to the bottom of the gazebo panels.

Sunday was a lot better. Lots more customers, more sun, although the wind was still playing up, majority of the tent stayed still..... until the evening when we dismantled the gazebo. The top blew off. The front end went up in the air, while still being connected the other... came back down, and ripped two of the plastic components. Grrrr.

I've one more outside fair to do in September. I'm pretty worried about it now, but I think that will be the last one I do. I'll stick with inside doo's next time!!

This afternoon I received my MISI Stash Swop!

It's from Kelly from Kelso Kreations! ( I hope!)

Please say if I have it wrong *embarrassed face!*

The idea came from snowflake.unique. We had to scramble through our crafting bits and bobs and send our raw materials to our given swappers to a vaule of £5.00.

Using all the items that have arrived, we are to create a masterpiece! Then take piccies of our finished item(s) and post them on the MISI forum, and blog here about them.

We have until the beginning of August to make our items. I'm really excited!

The weekend finally came around for myself and Twisty to pop down to Worthing to meet a very special mummy of 2 - Madam Salami - from MISI!

Saturday

We set off from Reading, about 11.30am, on Saturday morning, and started our 2 hour travel down to the south coast!
All we had was google maps on the iPhone to direct us down there!

Please, no one ever use this! It's rubbish! Stick to a standard map made out of paper, bound neatly, that you leave in the back pocket sleeve of your passenger seat!

After getting a little lost in Guilford, we finally managed to find our way to the hotel. The battery on the phone died just before we got to the sea front, so that was lucky!

We checked in, found the hotel room, the went to meet Madam Salami, her OH, R, and her two little ones Ninja, and Baby D.

We met them just outside the hotel on the green, where there was an Army weekend going on.

We headed out onto the Worthing Pier, to breathe in the sea air, and get a little windswept! One way to blow out all those cobwebs!

That's R there on the left with a yummy ice cream, Ninja in the middle, and my fat arm on the right!

Walking up the pier it seemed to be a hot spot for all those budding fishermen. Although this guy seems to have given up!

He must have been sweltering in that jacket!

Ninja was asking if we were going into the arcades, Madam Salami said 'Yes, we are, on the way back down' before Ninja asking me the classic question of 'What money you have in your country!'
Madam Salami was quick to respond that we do in fact have the same currency, as we all live in the same country!

We popped into the penny arcades on the way back down. Ninja zooming off as fast as lightening hits to get in there!
I love penny arcades, they should be called 2 penny arcades now... where have all the 1p machines gone!

As we went inside this is what greeted me!

It's the most scariest group of monkeys ever!

And yes!
I did get it!!

After we spent all our pennies trying win strange bits of plastic, and Ninja finally getting his poker token prize, we all headed back from the pier.

On Friday, Ninja had bought himself a Harmonica. And was blowing little masterpieces out of it on the way back down!
Here he is trying his hand at some busking!

R, Baby D, who had just previously woken up, along with Ninja headed back to their car, while myself, Madam Salami and Twisty, headed towards our car to unload the small quantity of alcohol and disposable BBQ's, and walk back to their house. We didn't want to take the car, alcohol and cars don't mix too well.

After walking back, which seemed to be about 900 miles, we arrived!
We ordered Chinese which arrived in about 3 seconds! All sat down to eat, while being entertained by Baby D eating a prawn cracker the size of his head!

After dinner, we headed back into the living room to watch an episode of Futurama. Seems like Ninja has good taste in cartoons already!

Food had digested, so we grabbed the drinks, and BBQ, and headed across the road to the beach to indulge on toasted marshmallows dipped in chocolate! Mmmmmm

The main topic of conversation seemed to be Baby D, and his amusing antics! Twisty was holding his marshmallow stick in his mouth, and Baby D picked up on this as a handy holding tool!

He must have sat down on one of his many marshmallows his was ripping apart! This got us all in fits of laughter!

But doesn't seem to be amused!

The day ended with us going back to their abode. Baby D was getting very tired, so R put him to bed, while Ninja showed us his collection of Crazy Bones that he is collecting.

Twisty and I headed back to our hotel about 11:30pm. Everyone was absolutely shattered. We popped in to the takeaway for burgers to revive our energy for the rest of the journey!

Sunday

We got about about 8:30, washed, dressed and packed everything up. Well, throwing everything into Tesco bags!

We headed down to the hotels dinning area for our complimentary breakfast of Continental grub! But where was the sausage!
We had poached eggs, beans, button mushroom, that I now love, and bacon. With a round of toast.

By this time it was just gone 10, so we headed out again. Me and Twisty walked along the pebble beach, where it was still misty over looking the sea and Pier.

We headed towards the pier again, as I wanted another play on the 2p machines! This time coming away with a stress ball, a pink car, and also winning Winnie the Pooh on those grabber machines!! I was well chuffed.

I text Madam Salami just after, to see when she wanted to meet up for the day. So for the next couple of hours we had spare, we had a little wonder around the town, going into M&S for a drink and cake!

We met up at 12:30, where we had a spot of lunch in Pizza Hut!
Good Choice!
They gave us a better tour of the town. We had missed most of it! I thought it was just one street, but it appears there was a whole lot more around the back!

By which time it was almost going home time. We sat in the gardens, where the Army vehicles were, and said our goodbyes until next time.
We left just gone 3pm, for our 2 hour journey back, where it was in fact a 4 hour journey, as we were stuck in a queue on the motorway heading towards Berkshire for an hour!

The motorway was shut! Due to an overturned lorry shedding its load of chicken feed!

Everyone was cramming into one lane at the turn off to Slough! Why o why did it have to be Slough! We had no idea where we were going, so the not so trusting google maps made its appearance once again, as we found our way back to Reading!

We made it! Only having to stop at a pub car park in Slough, nipping to the loo in the pub and making a swift exit! It was a rather scary area!

So that was my weekend! :D
I had a lovely time there. Madam Salami and R were very welcoming hosts to our mini holiday.
And Ninja and Baby D are two both very wonderful, beautiful, well behaved children.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

It's been very busy this week in the Sprinks world completing 3 custom orders!

First off I was asked to make a glass necklace chain, delicate, in the colours dark brown and black. I used glass seed beads to make it, and it seem to go down an absolutely treat. She loved it

Then week I received an email from a lady wanting to know if I could help her out with some beaded hair bobbles and hair pins for her bridesmaids.

Ta da!

And then there was Looby Crafts order!

I had asked Lou to make me a custom order Anniversary Card for my parents, while doing so she asked me to make her a jingly jangle bracelet.

Mmmmmm, I could eat another one right now!

What is your current obsession?
My outside trade stand!
I'm totally over obsessed with making it really pretty and girly for my up and coming trade show at the beginning of July at Heddington & Stockley.
My parents surprised me with a gazebo a couple of months ago, so since then I've gone crazy mad with accessories, another tent to sit in, just in case it rains, or even it gets too hot!

What is your greatest achievement?
Starting my jewellery business. We can all say that we played shops when we were little, getting the tins out of the cupboard, sticky labelling them, getting the till out with the plastic money and handmade notes. (my till didn't come with notes!), but i never lost the love for playing shops even now! Just now I get to play with real money, and real stock and real customers!

Coffee or Tea?
Easy Peasy! TEA! Coffee makes me smell funny!

What’s for dinner?
I call dinner at 12pm. But I guess we mean evening meal, which is tea for me!
Fajitas!!
We have the remainder of the frozen Quorn Chicken, with salsa and seasoning, all wrapped snugly in a warm tortilla wraps. Mmmmmm

What have you just made?
I have just been finishing off a custom wedding order of beaded hair bobbles for a lovely lady for her bridesmaids.
I'm very happy with them, and she likes them too. I'm never sure whether people will like my bespoke designs. Something you like, someone else will dislike. It's always a tricky one.
I'm half way though making 16 wire wrapped hair pins too, little like these, but in a crystal ab instead.What are you listening to right now?
I'm watching the TV at the moment!
Re-runs of the IT Crowd! All 3 series to get through :D But on my iPod I'm listening to Green Days new album over and over and over and over again. I'm in love with it... and Billie Joe *phaw*

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mmm, this one is tricky! Can I have 2 favourites? When I have a Teddy Bears Picnic I get to choose two flavours so I'm going to stick with that! Them being coffee and chocolate!

I would go visit Dr. Who, get in his Police Box and go time travelling. But seriously, I have no idea. I like to be spontaneous, and just go wherever it takes me.

Having the money to open my own bead store. There are hundreds online, but not enough on the high street! I'd love to be able to supply bead lovers with their own local shop where they can come in, chat, browse, pick up, touch and design their own jewellery, and even make it when they are there while they have everything they need around them.

What is your worst habit?
Being such a stress head! If anything goes wrong that's it... wham. It causes me a lot of health issues, but I guess it will get better over time.

Describe your personal style?
Totally different than my jewellery's style! I'm very into the grunge 'style' baggy jeans, black tops, hoodies (not like the groupies we see hanging outside the local Spar, I'm too old and tired to stand outside at 10pm!)

What are you going to do after this?
Probably rest my fingers, and eat the rest of my spicy space invaders!

What is your favorite fruit?
I don't do fruit. The only one I like are Bananas, so I guess they are my favourite fruit!

What inspires you?
Women that take the plunge and go for it in business. It takes a lot of guts to do it, and I love all of them for it.

EEK! I don't read very much at all. Hated it due to the fact we were also forced to read at school. The most recent book I read, that I thoroughly enjoyed and found it very interesting was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

Do you collect something?
Beads? But then that's my job. I love collecting Fairies though. I often find them at trade fairs at stalls at really good prices.

What is your favorite smell?
Mmm, lynx Africa, and now lynx Aloe Vera shower gel! It smells of parma violet sweeties! It just gets those memories flooding back!

What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of my business. It's taken time to get off the ground. I was holding myself back a lot last year, but since April this year I really have taken the plunge into getting my business out there and it's starting to pay off.

How many times do you press the snooze button before you get up?
Mwahaha!
Never! I don't need to. I get up when I wake up :D

Before I found the world of hair dye!

Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen!

What a miserable day :(

I have had a lovely quiet week, relaxing from my busy weekend last week. I get tired extremely quickly.

During the week I made 4 pairs of earrings out of the last beads I had lurking around in my stash!

They are available on MISI, at £2.00 a pair!

Yesterday I plodded into town, and nipped into the bead shop. Came out with practically the entire store!

So... here is what I came up with!

This necklace is made up from acrylic diamond shape beads, czech glass beads, and freshwater pearls.

Next up! This chain and glass bead necklace. It's made up from czech glass beads and silver chain.

And last but not least!

This nautical bracelet. It's made up of antique silver and copper charms, and czech glass beads.

Both necklaces and the bracelet will be on MISI for sale on Monday, or might be sooner!!.... I'll let you know :D

Castle Combe Steam & Vintage Rally

Days of preparation, and the two day fair is over!

I'm so tired.

This weekend I attended the Castle Combe Steam & Vintage Rally, and you would have found me in the craft marquee.

Unfortunately it wasn't as busy as last year, but it was still certainly packed with red lobster burnt looking people!

On Saturday, the sun was beaming, it was a stunning day, but the football, and the Royal Bath & West Show certainly took away the visitors for the day. But today, Sunday, even at 10:00am when the gates opened it was all hustle and bustle with potential customers walking about!

It's very interesting, stood there, watching people come into the craft marquee, and do the rounds, studying everyones stall, not buying, then starting from the beginning again with purses and wallets in hand!

I found my best customers to be the husband and wife team! The lady likes, the husband retrieves wallet from back pocket, and outcomes the dosh! Voila!

I often find that there is usually a jewellery trend at fairs.

You either sells lots of necklaces, bracelets, pendants, rings, and whatever else you sale... this weekend my earrings were flying off the stands...?

Why? Maybe it's the sunshine.

Some of you may have seen a couple of beaded bookmark in my MISI store?

Well, they both have had a little surgery, and had more beads added to them!

The Pink Bead and Butterfly Squiggle Bookmark has Freshwater pearls added, hanging on dagger headpins, and the Green Bead Squiggle Bookmark has more funky green beads added.

I have made another 4 Beaded Bookmarks. All with different hanging charms. They include a Sewing Machine, a Cat (with long legs!), a cute turtle, and Tinkerbell!

The other 4 bookmarks will be listed on MISI from next Monday, June 1st. They will be £5.00 each!

Also two new Mobile Phone Charms, or Zip Charms. However you like to use them! All the beads are glass, not plastic. Only £1.30 each! Again, these will be available on MISI from Monday.

Packaging Production Line!

Today was very hectic and extremely tiresome, but I really needed to get gluing and sticking my trade fair packaging together. So I began my production line!

Although it did take almost all day, I'm pretty pleased with the results. With a bit of my new pink ribbon wrapped and curled around them, I think it's going to look fab!

When it was all put away, I started on the test tube seed bead collection! This is ready for the trade fair next weekend!

I'm sorry that I haven't updated my blog in a while, but I haven't had anything interesting to report!

I have been very busy today though getting my craft fair tables ready. This year I have 2 tables so fill, so thats 12ft! Eek!

I like to get everything out, and do a demo display of what my stall is going to look like before I get there, so I'm not faffing around in the morning putting it all out, rearranging, and getting into a stressy fit!

Ok, so the display boards are not complete yet, and yes, the old Christmas signs are still up! I'll change them soon, and do the boards on the night before the fair. But here is my table!

Madam Salami's Egg Advice

The exp. date on my eggs was out, so Madam Salami gave me some advice to check to see if my eggs were really rotton!

Step 1

Dunk the egg in a tall tumbler of water. If the egg goes straight to the bottom, then its okay. If it bobbles around then sinks, its on its way out. If it just floats at the top then its a rotton old bad egg.

Step 2

If it floats, bin it!

If it sinks, crack it open. It shouldn't smell!

Mine bobbled about a bit, then sank, so I cracked it open for investigation!

Step 3

If it's okay, cook it!

If its like mine, look at it. Then bin it! I'm not risking my stomach!

This week I have been concentrating on getting my summer craft stalls ready. This year I have ALOT of space to fill up.

So the idea of having a jewellery stall and an accessories stall was a great idea...... I thought!

There is plenty of handmade jewellery to fill up one trestle table, but not enough handmade accessories to fill the other table. So I came up with the idea of selling home and garden accessories.

As i'll be outside, displaying garden features hopefully will work quite well. I've got my hands on some beautiful colourful lanterns and accessorised them with beads, and a little ribbon to finish them off! As you can see in the picture, I have added

beaded handles and cuffs to them.

Included in the homeware section are these gorgeous little burgundy potpourri organza bags. They smell divine!

Weekend Roundup!

On Saturday I popped along to the Royal Bath & West Royal Showground for The Stitch and Creative Crafts Show. Again this year it was manly dominated by card and paper crafts, so not much jewellery, or other craft relative hobbies.

I did buy a few bits and bobs though. Few buttons, brooch clips, craft papers, few beads (prices were a little high though) and some bottle tops!

The bottle top are going to be make into fab magnets!

What a totally exhausting day!

When I got back I thought I would make a start on making some badges with my new craft paper! Only to get onto the second badge, and my badge maker broke!

So if anyone has Super BadgeIt maker going cheap, or even the proper metal badge making kits at a very discounted price let me know ;) (thanks Caz ;))

I was bidding on Ebay last night for one, only to be piped at the post at the last 10 seconds by 20p! Argh!

Update! I now have a badge making kit.
It was at a bargain price of £2!!

Yesterday, Sunday, after my badge making disaster, I got to work on the bottle top magnets! I left them over night a magnetic board, just to make sure they dont slip. Thankfully they don't!!

Yesterday I was struck down with man flu! Can you believe it? A few days after Easter, when I should be eating my chocolate eggs, I get a cold! So now they are just sitting there, until the sniffles go away, and I can munch on them without getting even more bunged up!

Finally today, my beads arrived! YAY! So this afternoon I started making 20 bag charms. I've managed to photograph 10 of them so far, I'll do the other set later on.

Gazebo!

My parents came back from shopping Friday afternoon with a pressie for me!

A GAZEBO!

I was ecstatic! It means now that I can attend outdoor craft fairs. Being a fairy 'bog standard' garden gazebo, I was a little worried about it sturdiness. One gust of wind and off it flies along the field!

So today, with the help of my dad, we put it up in the back garden to test it out! It's not bad at all! I'm going to nip into the camping shop and get some extra pegs, just for safety sake, but I'm so happy with it!

I took some piccies of it being put together. (I took the pictures with my phone, so they are not all that special). As you can see, our garden is not quite big enough for it!

I'm very excited about my little shop! Of course, when it gets used, ill blog it. But that isn't until June/July time.

This Week

Thought I would do a round up of my week instead of an individual blog every day.

First off I have added 7 new items to Misi. Click the link to see my new creations ;)

Secondly, I came runner in the Misi Easter Egg Hunt! I'm so chuffed, haha. I managed to find 22 out of the 25 eggs. I won a wonderful easter anigurami bunny, handmade by reeneegurumi , and a beautiful easter necklace handmade by zoewoods. Also free listings to misi aswell.

Congratulations to enchanted too who also came runner up along with me. Jane and Zoe who both got a Chocolate Bunny from Cocoapod.

But I cannot forget to mention The Pink Fairy Cake who came 1st, and won a gorgeous Gifford the bear handmade by tollykit, and his and hers egg cups handmade by Patchwork Daisy .
How did she find them all?!

I dont have any pictures of my goodies yet, but when I receive them I'll post them up.

Tuesday evening I went and spilt my glass of lushes red wine all over the coffee table where my keyboard and mouse is, myself, the carpet and the curtains!

We tipped the keyboard up, and let all the wine drip out. Lukily it didn't effect the mouse. The keyboard dried out, but a couple of the keys were a little sticky :( So I went and got myself a lovely new keyboard and mouse set. And its PINK!!

Today I added myself to UK directory. Their aim is to build up a directory of handmade crafts within the UK. They would love your support too.

An Easter Review

What a lovely few summery days we seem to be having. I hope it lasts, it's really brightening up the year, of which, hasn't been particually great.

This morning I started going through some of my stock, mainly the items that are listed up on my website, and misi, and reviewed some prices of many pieces.

Anything from £1 to £20 has been knocked off many products!

One craft show weekend I was really looking forward to be taking part again in this year, has been 'slightly altered' . They are not having a craft marquee this year, although we have been offered a trade stand.
I am reluctant to take up this offer as I am not really looking to compete against fair trade and bulk bought items. Plus the fact I will have to buy a gazebo stand, and I can guarantee I will buy the one that will blow away and leak!

So now, due to very very poor amount of shows this year, I have decided to hold up on the DIY jewellery kits, even though they were coming along well, and launch them next year instead.

One thing I am really really looking forward to taking part in is the Little Book of Misi 2nd Edition, that artsbymimi is putting together. Anyone who has a shop on Misi can join in. The criteria is available to read on the Misi forum.

Off to the fair

I popped along to an antiques fair this weekend at The Royal Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet.

I went with my parents, and a couple of their friends to trawl around, what seemed to me, to be just a load of old junk! Bits of wood claiming to be an 18th century table, what looked more like a fantastic meal for wood worm!

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, we toured the outside marquee stalls first, grabbed a tea and bit of choccie cake, and started the walk-a-bout indoors. Again, more junk, and overpriced brightly coloured vulgar crockery!

So... time went on, still checking out all the over priced bits and bobs, until finally, an vintage jewellery stall that wasn't over priced, with many many baskets and old biscuit tins of tangled up jewellery, which was either broken, or pendants without a home.

I was rummaging for ages and ages until I came across a gorgeous heart shaped pendant. It was grubby, but nothing a bit of silver cleaning cloth couldn't fix! I knew exactly what I was going to do with it, so here is a pic!
